My 82 year old dad has so many ailments.Some are with his lungs and heart.He smoked 2 packs a day for 30 years...quitting in 1985.Is that previous smoking addiction still affecting him all these years later?

Hey I'm a guy, and it's a typical situation in my opinion. The way you've described those events makes me think he does like you. If he smiled at you after turning down the other girl, he's probably got a crush on you. I don't want to get your hopes up if it's not true, but it is likely. I mean he could be seeking attention and just wanting you to like him more, but then he wouldn't have rejected the other girl(s). If he likes you and hasn't told you, he's reasonably shy, so does that fit with character? I mean if he's a really bold guy (which 'semi-emos' usually aren't) then it doesn't add up. But if he is shy, he probably does like you. I suggest talking to him a bit more, say hi and smile when you p him in the hall, and he'll pick up that you like him, if he hasn't already. It would be unusual to have either at your age, but it would show up on CT if you have one. You poor thing, you have already been scoped everywhere possible I would think I CT would have been done. A CA-19-9 is used as a tumor marker for pancreatic cancer and it only would have been run if your doctor asked for it and it is unlikely he did as he would have had to suspect it to order it. You could try keeping a diary of everything you eat, drink and do and keep track of which pains you have and when, it may make it easier to find what it is that is causing your problems. Good luck.

I wore a fitted cotton lavender shirt, a tan skirt, and heels. I took the heels off after like five minutes. I just wore them because they matched my outfit. It was mid July, and I was about 7 months along, and I was hot all the time anyway, so just wear whatever you find comfortable. It's your baby shower...if someone doesn't like your outfit then tell them to go home! Seriously though, just dress in whatever is comfortable to you!

Each time I shave my hair follicles stay open and show the end of the hair, anything I can do to close them?

I need a product that will either close the hair follicle after I shave or remove the hair from the root or beneath the follicle so it can't be seen. I have brown skin so when I shave it instantly looks like a 5 oclock shadow even though I use mach 3 or 4 razors and change them frequently it always leaves the follicles open and the end of the hair even with the skin surface.

Skin Problem?

I bought a 5 Y/Old gelding in October. HE had some signs of hair thinning around his shoulder on either side(same place)! one either side just behind his ears and again either side 10 inches back from his ears! After 3 months the hair still had not grown back. (I thought it was chafing and head coller rubs! One looked a bit strange so I put some 3 antibiotic cream on it and another place, and within a week sores were visible where the cream has been! Obviously a reaction!! He does not scratch it! The places are not hot, or red! I live in a remote part of Spain. We have no horse/mule Vets near by just a small animal vet! Blood tests would take 2 months! It would be ignorant to say people aren't thankful for the good that's in their lives based off they're beliefs. People say that because they just flat out don't like athiest or people with different beliefs are bad people. All that matters is whether or not a person is a good person and lives a good life, not whether or not they believe in a higher power. Happiness has nothing to do with a person's beliefs. Some people actually are more happier not religious than religious, because they don't have the burden of worrying about everything being a sin and displeasing god.

How will the health care reform effect child support?

I haven't found, or really don't how to to look for answers on what the the new health care reform involves. My issue is that I'm a divorced dad that pays out the wazoo for awesome health care for my kids, court ordered for health and dental. Once this new reform is instilled, would I still be responsible for mandatory health care for my children? I'm not a deadbeat so I do pay, and in all honesty I don't really care, their my kids and I want them to be healthy. Actually something similar happened to me. My husband and I were out with a group of his friends, and since he was also the county health inspector, the only place we ate in that town was Pizza Hut. So I am there with these people, and I get up to go to the bathroom, only it is occupied. Well I hear the toilet flush, and I hear someone washing their hands, so I think I am next.....but then the toilet flushed again, and someone washed their hands.....and then again.....It turned out that a woman took 4 small children to the bathroom, and every time I thought it was my turn, I was wrong. Six year old gelding, turned aggressive after lunging?

It really sounds like someone hurt him in the past with a lunge line, whip, or something with lunging. First off most horses who have no idea how to lunge can be afraid of the rope, I would try free lunging him. I know all the ones I have trained feel much more at ease when they don't have someone holding them back. Also always give a treat for when he does even a little bit of good. It does sound like he might be playing you this sounds mean but next time if he runs at you pop him with the whip even if it is his face. He will soon learn that this is a bad thing to do. Don't worry about hurting him, I mean don't beat him just a pop.

I am 18 and I disagre with it. I feel that as a legal adult, that it wouldn't affect me anyway since this law probably wound't be ped until I was at least 21 anyway. BACK SURGERY! anyone heard of a Disk Excision? orthapedic surgeon wants to knife me...?

my orthapedic pain mgt doc has taken a look at my L5 S1 discs and found the protrusion thats compressing on the nerves/thecal sac thats causing me huge amounts of pain. they also found the cervical c1, c2, c3, c4, 5, 6, 7, 8 etc are effected as well. the condition according to the doc is called stenosis and herniated discs. the main herniation in l5 s1 is causing extreme shooting pain....so heres the deal, this orthopedic whom is a very unhappy camper it seems has asked me if i wanted to have a DISC EXCISION PROCEDURE..... the procedure he says will involve cutting away a part of the disc thats bulging out and eliminate the disc pressure on the nerves.... HAS ANYONE HAD A DISC EXCISION? this guys is an orthopedic and has been a doc since 1974.... to him i ume being an orthopedic makes him want to cut everything? there are lots of doctors that offer some much less invasive procedures with lasers that remove those disc problems etc.. i have read up on these docs that have much more innovative procedures, laser surgery etc... the laser surgery appears to be much more sensible as its miminally invasive, quicker recovery and less pain? does anyone have any input on my situation? lasier vs ortho knife? or have you yourself had success with a particular procedure? taking 120 mgs a day of percocet gets old... im looking for solutions... thank you!

If CBC and Haemoglobin are good, it might not be low iron causing it. Ask the doc about other causes. Are you eating enough food with iron? Fruit and veggies are good and vitamins can also help.

I'm a stepmom and would never make such a stipulation or even 'hint' at one if I really truly loved your father. It just doesn't ring true. She knows the situation and that your Dad is comfortable with you at home so she either needs to come to grips with it or not marry your Dad. I also agree that he should have a pre-nuptual agreement. How long have they been dating? Perhaps your Dad is moving too fast because of loneliness, etc. Does he know your feelings? Why not have a heart to heart and let him know that you don't want to come between them, but you aren't ready to go it alone. Tenant Has Done a Lot of Work On Unit?

I have an out of town tenant that has done $1,500 worth of work on duplex unit and it is in her contract that she is not to do alterations. She has put in a new stove and oven & re done the kitchen floor with stick on tile that has grout in between them. She has pulled up the carpet in the two bedrooms and replaced it with the same stick on tile with grout in between them. The master bedroom still has the carpet in it as well as the hall and stairs. She has painted all 3 bedrooms and is in the process of painting them back to the original color. I noticed that the 3 bedrooms has a different color white around all the edges by the ceiling area in all 3 bedrooms. Looks as though she got paint on the ceiling since two bedroom were painted blue and one painted green and she was trying to cover it up. There are a few other minor damages that don't really amount to anything. This other is the major one in the 3 bedroom upstairs. The stick on tiles doesn't look too bad where she pulled up the carpet and replaced it with the tiles. In one of the small bedroom though it does look bad because of putting too much grout in between them. The carpet looks to be really bad alright and looks to be at least 15 or more years old. (I just bought this 4 years ago & turned it over to a Management Co. in that town since I don't live there) The Management Co. wants to evict, but they are willing to sign a new contract. I went to look at this property myself and I think I should try and work it out with the tenant. (I have this duplex up for sale) Tenant said the Management Co would never do anything. Don't know if this is true or not, but do know they have never done an inspection while the tenant has been there or there wouldn't have been this many alterations. Anyhow, how would you try and work this out or what would you do about this situation? Forgot to mention that the front door & frame need to be replaced because of an attempted break in. I live in Austin and this duplex is in Victoria, Texas.

Just need to be persistent and be on a schedule. Take the dog out every time she wakes up, after Everyone meal, and just about every 2 hours. What works best is keep the puppy confined to an x-pen so you know where she is at all times so she can't sneak away and leave odd jobs around the house. When you take her out side to relieve herself always take her to the same spot where you want her to go and always give lots of praise when she does it correctly. Also, consider that many of these medias contribute to Democrat campaigns. What quality of University should I shoot for (USA)?

I'm entering the part of High School where I begin to look at Colleges, and they being to look at me. I have excellent test scores, so I have been getting mail from top notch schools like NYU, UPenn, Georgetown, Cornell... etc. However, Due to some extenuating cirstances (60 days sick Freshmen year, My sister's suicide attempts Sopre year) My GPA is at a 3.5 Weighted... far less desirable than what these colleges look for. I owe the college for cles over 10 years old and now want to take cles. Do I have to pay?

I took two cles in 1999, but dropped them (I paid for them, but dropped after the date for a refund). Apparently, at some point in time they erroneously reclified me as a non-resident student (I've lived in California where I took the cles since 1995). It is possible they sent me doentation about this change and I never got it because I separated from my husband and moved which is why I had to drop the cles. So now I want to go back to school to become a psychiatric technician and this debt for over $800 pops up and I'm told I can't register till I pay it. I went to the school and they said I can fix the classification with certain doentation, so I provided it. Two days later I received email saying that the doentation I provided was inadequate and they want more. I already gave them 2 years of tax returns, my son's birth certificate showing I had him here, my voter registration info dating all the way back to 1996, copies of licenses I hold here. All of these are things they said were adequate. Now they say they need 2 more years of tax returns that are over 10 years old and I can't find. The IRS and franchise tax board don't always even keep these records that long...I called looking for copies. Or they said I can provide copies of my bank statements from 1998, 1999 and a current bank statement as long as they're the same account. Well, of course it's not the same account. I held an account with my husband in 1998 and 1999. I feel they're trying to jerk me around and make it impossible to fix this. The "debt" is over 10 years old and I know the statute of limitations on debts in California is 4 years, but I don't know the extent of that. Meaning, I don't know if they can deny service due to a debt that old. I'm not trying to be a deadbeat, I just don't want to have to pay for their mistake.

Restaurant made me deathly ill to something I told them I was allergic to.?

I specifically told them that I was highly allergic to nuts. Comparative negligence would be on their side if I had not warned them. But, I did, and when I told them to hold the nuts on the salad, they did. But they had a special house sauce with ground up nuts in it that they still put on my sandwich. I had an awful allergic reaction, and I have written proof from them admitting their negligence. I plan on suing them for that negligence and pain and suffering. I also have medical proof of my allergies. Here's the thing. I sent the demand letter and they won't respond with their insurance information which they've told me they do have but again, still haven't sent to me. How can I get it? I posted this question before but all I got was, it's my fault for eating out at restaurants and for ordering a dish with nuts and hoping they'd hold them. I'm not going to live my life in a box away from society because of my allergy. Every restaurant prior has accommodated me and many people like me. Advice how 2 emotionally handle the news of EXTREMELY low sperm count and motility?

Well after about 2 years of trying we finally went and got a SA on my husband. The first one there was NO sperm at all. Not even any dead one... *I know, suprising* We went to a RE a week later and they did another SA and found 24,000 sperm but there is only 15-18% motility... So basically he might as well be broken... Haha.. We have changed out lifestile and cut out all caffiene, alot of processed food, and alot of zinc and vitamins. So we are going to retest in 3 months. But they say our only chance is IVF. So we are going to go ahead and do that but not until August 2010.. :( *tear* My question is, is how to people accually handle this news?? Question after having a baby?

so i had a baby 3 months ago as of November 28th. before i had my son, my husband and i would always go up to our new friends house (we met them back in july and we had been inseparable ever since). they were our first couple that we could actually go out to dinner with and things like that. they were very involved with me being pregnant, meaning they were there if i needed to go to the hospital or anything and going to the hospital after i had my emergency c-section. it seems now that i have had the baby that they almost ignore me. when i first went back to work 6 weeks after our son was born, the girl was picking him up from daycare and watching him till i got home (it was only about 30-45 min) now she wont even go near him. we always use to go up there and it didnt use to be a problem but it is now extremly cold outside and i dont want to take my son outside in that kind of weather and plus they dont understand that i have to keep my son on a schedule and if the doesnt stay on his schedule it messes with him all throughout the day. they just came downstairs with 2 of my husbands best friends (mind this these 2 guys have been my husbands best friends for a good 10 years or more) and no one even said hi to me. i dont know if i did something wrong or what...but its frustrating because this is a new state and i dont have many friends here and well it looks like i just lost another friend...any advice on what i can do to be more social or to maybe get my friend back :( (im sorry if this sounds immature its just really frustrating, and no i am not a young person i just think its wrong the way i am being treated)

Almost 14 m old toddler refuses to drink any liquids other than BM?

HELP !! I am going crazy. My toddler is almost 14 m old, high-maintance and with a huge temper since birth. I have been feeding him, but now I am on antihistamine and other medications, and for other reasons I need to ween him. I have been trying for days now and nothing is working. Since he turned 1 yr..I began introducing cow's milk, orange juice, other juices, water...I tried bottles, sippy cups, small cups...and he will slam whatever I try putting in front of him. He will absolutely have nothing but milk. I succeed only in giving him a few sips..but that's all. He only has two teeth so far and gags on chunky food so he is still feeding on pureed food. I mix that with cow's milk- and luckily he doesn't mind that. But after many attempts he still refuses anything in a cup- BM is an exception (tried that just to exclude if it was a cup issue/ or milk issue). I tried giving him other sources of calcium like yogart- he will eat one small cup of those a day sometimes.

I have very strong emotions on the topic of co sleeping. though It is not common for a parent to fall asleep on their child It does happen. You think It will never be you. But It does happen. There are better dry brands than Eukanuba. I took my dogs off that after my male developed a food allergy to it. I now have both dogs on moist home prepared food. It is people grade food prepared for dogs. They are thriving. Having dry food does not keep their teeth clean, that is a myth. Canned food, you are paying for a lot of water. Fruits and vegetables can make healthy additions ( no gs) and canned pumpkin is a big hit with my dogs. Plus it is loaded with vitamins and minerals.

Computer boots itself when power cable is plugged?

She showed up in bright white, so my aunt sacrificed her black jacket and asked her to wear it. My stepmother then told my aunt that I needed chill pill. I totally freaked out when I heard what she was wearing. My dad later told me that she wore white to my wedding because apparently I wore a white dress to hers, which I didn't. It was gold. Worried about my cat...?

I have a 2 year old tuxedo cat named Harley. Lately, I've noticed some changes in his behavior. The biggest concern I have is his decreased energy. I know cats sleep ALOT but that's all he does. He'll usually sleep til around 7 and wake up to play (he plays fetch). Not only does he not ever want to play, he also doesn't play fetch with his mouse anymore. This is a concern because he ALWAYS plays with it...in the mornings when I woke up he would bring me his mouse, when I got home he would bring it to me, whenever he was playful he brought it. He hasn't brought it for the past few days. He's also pooped on the carpet a couple times when I'm not home and it's just my boyfriend home. He doesn't like my boyfriend very much so that could be the problem. Also, I have a feeling he might have separation anxiety or something. He gets overly excited when I get home or when I wake up and will meow constantly. I can't go into another room without him following me and if I close the door to use the bathroom he sits by the door and meows, sticks his paw under the door to try and open it and has even stood up and pawed at the door. I might be just a worry wart but I've heard that if there is a change in his behavior it's usually a good thing to get him checked out. He also had gunk in his eye which he has never had before and I've had to fill up his water bowl a lot more frequently than before. I recently read about a disorder called rippling skin disease and some of the symptoms fit him..like excessive meowing, dialated pupils, rippling of the skin, always licking the base of his tail, suddenly running off, and he also tries to bite sometimes if you just try and pet him. If anyone has any suggestions, might know what's going on, or any help at all I would greatly appreciate it.

I know it's not systems like IT, but it's like the brain is the computer, that can process tons of information effortlessly, and can manage our bodies with out us even having to pay attention to it for real. Sometimes problems do happen like, flu, common cold the central nervous system isn't operating like it should, or you break a limb. The body does what it can to repair the damage clotting then the doctor takes over. A computer will shut down, some how make you acknowledge somethings wrong, and then you call IT you save your . Seems similar to me.

I just bought an '04 TL and since I love my car and like the better performance with the higher octane I am going to use the required (really recommened) 91 Octane minimum. Is there any gas station that even carry 91 octane? I'm here in the Dallas area but all gas stations I have been to only carry 87, 89, and 93. Wtf?

A while ago I got arrested in a club for underage drinking. I went to court, paid my fine and it was over. Now I am fixing to apply to a university (march 1) and I just remembered it! Never was a Zeppelin fan so can't really comment on Page. To me Hendrix had the faster licks and was more of an innovator, but Clapton plays a style I like more. More soulful and restrained. I am starting to get serious about my golf game. To start off I have been playing for only four years, and was a pitcher back in highschool.I go to a junior college now at 20 and practice golf in my spare time, usually about 3 or 4 days a week. I admit to two putting often but I manage to shoot par at the local few courses.I don't keep a USGA handicap though. Would that help? My drives carry 275yds in the air, and for the most part easy to control with minimal draws and fades. I sometimes find the greens in two on par 5's, but put too much pressure on my eagle putts, and have yet to sink one. I haven't taken any lessons, or played in any tournaments. In short.... What's next?

How do I get my baby to sleep?

My daughter is 2 months old now and she mainly falls asleep while feeding. She sleeps really well at night (we co-sleep) but during the day is tricky. This is how the day usually goes: After waking from her night sleep she's good by herself for about 15 min. With a lot of entertaining or moving locations when she gets fussy we can keep her entertained for maybe an hour if she just woke up from the night sleep or a really long nap. Her fussiness starts with a cough-like sound with more an more wailing mixed in as times goes by. So then I get her on the and it takes about an hour before she's out cold and I can set her down (otherwise she wakes up immediately). But even then she'll only sleep for a few minutes before waking up. Then the process continues but the length of time I can keep her not fussy gets shorter and shorter and she seems to want and not want the at the same time. So I try some holding and swaying but it usually doesn't calm her down so I eventually put her on the again and then she finally pes out. This is her mid day nap that usually lasts an hour or two. Then the process starts again until she goes to sleep at night. Now I know she can't be hungry every hour especially since she's a very efficient eater when she's hungry and you can tell she doesn't want the sometimes. So I definitely think this is a sleep thing. The problem is she'll very rarely go to sleep any other way unless she's totally exhausted. I've been trying to use a pacifier but sometimes she takes to it and sometimes she doesn't. I can't even begin to imagine how to teach her to sleep without the because as soon as you tear it away from her she starts wailing immediately or becomes wide awake and will start wailing shortly. I don't mind feeding her to sleep sometimes, maybe that's the problem, but I don't think it's necessary every hour. As this is my first child I'm not really sure how much sleep she should be getting either or if it's normal to start getting fussy after 15 minutes of waking. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Gun lubrication substitute?

What is the point of using an alternative method when the real thing is readily available and inexpensive? Unless you get caught out in the bush for weeks or something. Motor oil eventually turns greasy and can get gritty. WD-40 dries out but is good in a pinch after a rain storm. I just wouldn't put any substitute for a good gun oil on my prized possessions.
