Research books on Mao's Cultural Revolution?

Hi, I have to do a research paper on the topic, " Why was Chairman Mao's Cultural Revolution so effective for China?" I've been trying to find books that answer this question, but most are very broad and general. Does anyone know any books that can help me answer this question? I need primary as well as secondary sources. Thanks for your help.
