I know that the fee is "nonrefundable" but is there a way I can fight to get it back?

I thought a little too early and splurged EVERYTHING and I mean literally ALL that i had in non-refundable tuition deposit into a school. I won't name the school but it was $500. Things are really rough and I need that money to pay bills. Is there any way the school may sympathize and give it back?
